Artist – Limp Bizkit
Electric Bass – Sam Rivers
Difficulty – Intermediate
This transcription and playthrough is dedicated to the late Sam Rivers. Nu-Metal had it’s heyday during my teenage years (though it’s had something of a resurgence in recent times!), and Limp Bizkit and KoRN were very much the two bands from the genre that were front centre for me.
Sam was (for me) always the standout player from Nu-Metal and this has always been the line that popped out for me. I believe Sam played the original line using an altered tuning but fortunately I found a way to play those harmonics in the intro using a standard tuned 5 string. I had to grab my Warwick Streamer for this one, a bass model I’ve always associated with Sam (and Stu Zender!) in the late 90s/early 2000s.
I had to sit for a little while and really get the slides down throughout the line, both in the verses and in the bridge towards the end. Take your time with them because those are crucial to really getting the feel of the line together!
Signal chain is as follows…
Warwick Streamer LX (passive tone rolled on, bright switch engaged) – MXR M80 – Audient interface – Garageband (platinumverb plugin)
