Hey all,
Happy New Year! For the first transcription of 2026 I’ve gone for a tune I first heard in my early teens that I randomly ended up playing on a gig towards the end of last year! It was a real blast from the past and while it wasn’t a tune I learned when I first heard it, it was so much fun to play that I thought I’d put out a full transcription for you all.
Audioslave was a hard rock supergroup that included Rage Against The Machine bass player Tim Commerford and although they don’t sound like RATM, you can definitely hear that it’s Tim playing on this track because he has a very characteristic sound and attack.
I couldn’t find anything definitive as to whether Tim played a 5 string on this record or if it was a de-tuned (or BEAD) 4 string so I’ve gone for a standard tuned 5. That being said, only a couple of short passages need the lower notes so you’ll be able to play most of the track on a 4 and shift those short sections up an octave.
