This is the second transcription I’ve posted from the Naughty album and was part of the intensive revisiting of Anthony’s work I did back in November. Clouds is possibly my favourite track and almost certainly my favourite bass line from the record, it’s an absolute tour-de-force of sublime note placement, subtle variation and some eye-popping fills to boot!
I’ve transcribed this for 5 string bass, though it’s possible on 4 string if you use AJs C-F-Bb-Eb tuning from this period (as it happens some of the fills become quite a bit easier…). I’ve spoken enough about what Anthony means to me as a musician, hopefully you’ll all enjoy checking out this line as much as I did transcribing it!
The signal chain here was Fodera (single coil, both pickups, tone rolled on 40%) – Cali76 compressor – Audient interface – Garageband (platinumverb and flanger plugins).
